Valpo Student-Athletes Continue to Thrive in Classroom

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics sustained its academic excellence this semester as 243 student-athletes achieved grade point averages of 3.0 or above.

Valpo Athletics Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2021

Six individuals have been inducted into the Valpo Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2021. Frank “Moose” Goheen, Kenneth Olson ’33, Al Holmes ’55, Mike Urio ’65, Curt Peil ’73 and Marlous Nieuwveen ’02 comprise the 24th class in Hall of Fame history.

Valpo Men’s Swimming to Join MAC as Affiliate Member

Valparaiso University has reached an agreement with the Mid-American Conference (MAC) to become an affiliate conference member in men’s swimming, beginning with the 2021-22 academic year.

Student-Athlete Allies Group to Host “Amplifying People of Color” Panel Thursday

Valparaiso University’s Student-Athlete Allies group will host a Zoom panel on “Amplifying People of Color” on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. CT to discuss the experiences of people of color throughout their time on campus. The purpose of this event is to spread awareness of the injustices that occur and ultimately work to find ways we can uplift and amplify people of color in our community.

Quintin Smidzik Added to Valpo Sports Medicine Staff

Head Athletic Trainer Nate Twedt has announced the addition of Quintin Smidzik (MEd, LAT, ATC) to the Valparaiso University Sports Medicine staff. Smidzik will serve as the athletic trainer for the Valpo softball program.

Seven Valpo Programs Boast Perfect Graduation Success Rates

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics continued its trend of academic success this week as the NCAA released its most recent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data. Valpo owns an 89 percent GSR, its best rate since also posting a GSR of 89 in 2013-14.

MVC Presidents Council Announces Delayed Start for Fall Sports; PFL Announces Adjustments to 2020 Season

The Missouri Valley Conference Presidents Council has announced that it will delay the start of competition in MVC fall sports until Friday, Sept. 18, and the league will conduct conference-only competition in men's soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball.
