A little less than five hours after the Crusaders ended UIC's season thanks to yet another dazzling pitching performance, Valpo saw 2014 come to a close following a 7-0 defeat to Wright State. The Brown and Gold concluded their season with a 25-28 overall record. The 25 victories were the most ever recorded by a first-year head coach in Valparaiso history.

Dalton Lundeen's (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) prolific sophomore campaign continued Thursday at Kapco Park as the left-hander heaved 8 2/3 innings of shutout ball in Valpo's 2-0 win over the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. The Crusaders will take on #2 UIC Thursday morning at 11:00 am.

Five Penguin pitchers combined to give Youngstown State a 7-3 win over Valpo in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament Wednesday at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin. Crusaders will face elimination games the rest of the way as Oakland awaits them Thursday morning at 11:00 am CT.

The Horizon League invades the city of Mequon, Wisconsin this week with the league’s NCAA Tournament berth up for grabs in the double-elimination HL Tournament. The Crusaders enter as the third seed and will face Youngstown State at 3 pm CT on Wednesday inside Kapco Park.

Five Crusaders received recognition for their respective 2014 seasons Tuesday as the Horizon League announced its baseball awards. Dalton Lundeen was voted Co-Pitcher of the Year; Michael Morman and Chris Manning were named to the First and Second Teams, respectively; pitchers Ellis Foreman and Mario Losi were elected to the Horizon League's All-Freshman Team.

A seven-run top of the third that saw plenty of pomp and circumstance propelled the Crusaders to a 9-1 victory over Youngstown State Saturday. In the process, Valpo collected its first weekend sweep of the season in Horizon League play.

Valpo plated five runs with two outs in the top of the second inning in game one of Friday's doubleheader versus Youngstown State. In the second tilt, they put up four runs in the exact same scenario. The Brown and Gold collected their 10th and 11th victories in Horizon League play behind 6-2 and 5-3 wins at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio.

Rain has forced the postponement of Thursday's baseball game between Youngstown State and Valpo. The game will be made up as part of doubleheader on Friday starting at 1 pm ET/12:00 pm CT at Eastwood Field.
