The southpaw was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Monday following his three-hit shutout of Milwaukee this past weekend. Lundeen, the 2014 Co-Pitcher of the Year, struck out five Panthers while walking just one in a 117-pitch gem on Friday afternoon. This represents his third career Pitcher of the Week honor.
Freshman Giovanni Garbella laced his first career round-tripper in the home half of the seventh to draw Valpo within one run, but Panther catcher Daulton Varsho's ninth-inning two-run homer provided the insurance necessary for Milwaukee as the visitors notched an 8-6 win over the Crusaders in Sunday's series finale at Emory G. Bauer Field.
Spencer Mahoney enjoyed another three-hit afternoon, but Milwaukee plated four runs in the final two innings en route to an 8-5 win over Valpo at Emory G. Bauer Field on Saturday. The series will be decided Sunday afternoon in a 12:00 pm first pitch.
Spencer Mahoney's solo shot on the first pitch of the day from UWM starter Brian Keller was all Dalton Lundeen needed as the junior spun a three-hit shutout in Valpo's 6-0 series-opening win over Milwaukee at Emory G. Bauer Field on Friday. Mahoney registered his 200th career hit in the fourth with an infield single. He finished the day 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
