Valpo will host Centenary in a crucial four-game Mid-Continent Conference series Saturday and Sunday at Emory G. Bauer Field. The Crusaders (8-10 Mid-Con) and Gents (10-10 Mid-Con), who will play noon doubleheaders both days, are vying for one spot in the Mid-Con Tournament. The four-game set is the final Mid-Con series of the regular season.
The fourth and final spot in the Mid-Con Tournament will be awarded to the team with the higher winning percentage. As a result, Valpo must win three of the four games this weekend or finish with a higher winning percentage than Centenary.
The Mid-Con Tournament will be held May 26-28 at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. ORU (18-2) has already clinched the top seed, while Western Illinois (13-9) and Southern Utah (11-9) have clinched a spot and are battling for the second, third or fourth seed.
Last season, Centenary edged Valpo for the final spot by virtue of percentage points.
