Valparaiso University will play an exhibition baseball game against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on May 12, one of three games the Crusaders will play at the U.S. Steel Yard this year.

“It will be nice to be able to play in a first class stadium so close to campus and draw a few more fans,” Valpo head coach Tracy Woodson said.  “It is great for us to have such a positive working relationship with the RailCats.”

The exhibition game will be held at 6 p.m. and will be played with wooden bats.  The RailCats are an independent team that plays in the Northern League.  Tickets are available for the exhibition game for $4 and are general admission.  All of the proceeds from that game will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana.

In addition, Valpo will host Purdue at 7 p.m. on April 21 and Northwestern on May 5.  Tickets for those games are $5 and available through the U.S. Steel Yard ticket office or by calling (219) 882-2255.
