Senior Trevor Haas (Mount Prospect, Ill./Hersey) was chosen as a nominee for Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Monday following his first career shutout on Saturday at Oakland. The righty required just 92 tosses and needed no help closing out an 11-0 victory over the Golden Grizzlies. Haas scattered five hits (all singles) and struck out four batters without issuing a walk. Oakland did not have a base runner advance past first base until the ninth inning. Haas was the only Horizon League hurler to go the distance last week.

Haas is in the midst of his best campaign in a Crusader uniform. He has crafted a 2.40 earned-run average (fifth-lowest in the league) and opponents are batting just .240 against the senior. Haas has punched out 31 batters on the season opposite nine walks and has surrendered fewer than one hit per inning.
