Valpo's Sturman Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week

Valparaiso University's Brandon Sturman was selected as the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Crusaders' 41-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday.

Sturman, a junior middle linebacker from Brookeville, Md./Sherwood, scored Valpo's first points, returning an interception 16 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. The interception was Sturman's second in as many games. Sturman added a pass breakup and made three tackles against Wisconsin Lutheran.

Valpo (1-1) hosts Austin Peay (0-1) on Saturday beginning at noon.
