Valparaiso University senior Wesley Kosko (Emporia, Kan./Emporia H.S.) was elected president of the Mid-Continent Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during its summer meeting earlier this month.

Kosko, a member of Valpo's football and track and field teams, will lead the committee during the 2005-2006 academic year. The committee, which consists of one male and one female student-athlete from each of the conference's nine member institutions, meets twice during the academic year to discuss NCAA and conference issues that involve student-athlete welfare.

Kosko is a chemistry major and received Presidential Honors from the Department of Athletics during the past academic year for earning a cumulative grade point average above 3.25.

During the committee's summer meeting, Kosko also provided a report on the 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference, which he attended in June. Kosko was one of 324 student-athletes in the nation selected to the conference out of nearly 1,200 nominations.
