Valparaiso University’s Kyle Himmelwright (Coplay, Pa./Whitehall H.S.) has been named the Pioneer Football League’s Defensive Player of the Week after helping lead the Crusaders to a 38-24 victory at Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon.

Himmelwright led the Crusaders with 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops, while also becoming the first league player to record two interceptions in the same game this season.

Himmelwright’s first pick, at the Valpo 35-yard line, set up the Crusaders’ final touchdown drive.  His second interception came on the ensuing Hornet drive, and helped secure the Valpo victory.
