Valpo's Knutson Selected To I-AA Academic All-Star Team

Valparaiso University junior Kevin Knutson was selected to the Sixth Annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team. A wide receiver, Knutson was one of 31 winners from 93 nominees chosen by a special review committee of I-AA athletics directors.

A biology/chemistry major from River Falls, Wis./HS, Knutson achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.751 prior to the 2003 Fall Semester. In helping Valpo (8-4) capture its first-ever Pioneer Football League Championship, Knutson made a team-leading 74 receptions for 1,139 yards and six touchdowns. A Second Team All-PFL North selection, Knutson finished 12th in I-AA in receiving yards per game (94.9) and 20th nationally in receptions per game (6.17).

Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20-or-higher (on a 4.0 scale) in undergraduate study, have reached his second year both academically and athletically, and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials.
