Former Valparaiso football standout Garry Puetz is among this year's nominees for the College Football Hall of Fame, as run by the National Football Foundation (NFF).

Puetz is one of 22 nominees under the Division II umbrella, of which voters are allowed to vote for up to two players. Puetz, an inaugural selection to Valparaiso's Hall of Fame in 1998, was a two-time College Division First Team All-American selection at offensive tackle in 1971 and 1972. Also a three-time All-Conference honoree (made All-Conference at kicker as well in 1972), Puetz played ten seasons in the NFL for five different organizations following his Crusader career, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Washington Redskins in 1982.

This year's divisional inductees into the College Football Hall of Fame are scheduled to be unveiled on May 16.
