Valpo Football Announces Recruiting Class

Head football coach Dave Cecchini announced the 2015 recruiting class Wednesday. The Brown and Gold officially inked 28 players on Wednesday, the first day student-athletes are able to sign National Letters of Intent with their respective institutions.

"Our coaching staff as a whole has worked tirelessly to bring in the strongest student-athletes possible, and we feel very excited about this year's class," Cecchini said.

All 28 incoming Crusaders will be freshmen in the fall. Among the recruiting class are 16 offensive players, 11 defensive players, and a special teams player.

The defensive portion of the recruiting class is comprised of four defensive backs, four linebackers, two defensive linemen, and a defensive end.

On offense, Valpo welcomes three offensive linemen, a running back, an H back, two quarterbacks, two tight ends, and seven wide receivers.

The 2015 recruiting class originate from nine different states, led by eight recruits from Florida, five from Illinois, four from Indiana, three from both Michigan and Missouri, two from Texas, and one from California, North Carolina, and Wisconsin apiece.

The Crusaders went 4-8 in Cecchini's first season as head coach. The four wins matched the aggregate of the prior five years at Valparaiso.

The recruiting class announcement comes a day after Cecchini and the Crusaders released the 2015 schedule. Valpo will play six of its eleven games at Brown Field.
