John Dahman joined the Valparaiso University football coaching staff during the winter of 2010, and will coach the linebackers this season.

Dahman arrived at Valpo after coaching for five years at MacArthur High School in Decatur, Ill., where he was the defensive line coach.  He began his coaching stint as a volunteer assistant for the first two years, before moving into a full-time position in the later seasons.

In 2008, Dahman helped lead MacArthur to the state quarterfinals while coaching a First Team and Second Team All-Big Twelve Conference linemen.  In 2009, he also guided a First Team All-Conference selection, as well as an All-Area pick.  He also was the football program’s strength and conditioning coach during his final two seasons.

In addition, Dahman was chosen to be a member of the Illinois East-West All-Star game coaching staff in 2009.

Dahman played collegiate football at Aurora University for three seasons, before earning his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Millikin University in 2009.  He is now enrolled in the sports administration master’s program at Valparaiso University.
