Junior Jake Diebler (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky) has been named the Horizon League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced today.

Diebler helped the Crusaders to a sweep of two league road games last weekend, scoring 17 points to go along with seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.  He scored 12 points, including a 6-of-7 performance at the free throw line, and tallied five rebounds in Valpo’s win at Wright State, snapping the Raiders’ 14-game home winning streak.  He followed by registering four assists without a turnover in the Crusaders’ victory at Detroit.  Diebler paced Valpo on the week in assists and steals.

In the classroom, Diebler holds a 3.56 GPA as a marketing major with a minor in communications.  The junior earned Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team honors last season and was also named to the Mid-Con Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
