Cameron Witt to Join Valpo Program This Fall

            Valparaiso University head men’s basketball coach Homer Drew has announced that Cameron Witt has signed with Valparaiso University to join the Crusader roster this fall.

            Witt, a 6’8”, 225-pound forward, is from Launceston, Tasmania, which is a state of Australia.  He was the 2007 Tasmanian National Player of the Year and a member of the Australian under-20 national team.

            “Cameron is an athletic big man who can shoot the three as well as post up,” said Drew.  “He runs the floor, is a good shot blocker and rebounds well.”

            During the 2007 season, he was a member of Tasmanian and Australian Institute of Sport Elite Development team.  He averaged 10.4 rebounds per game and 3.7 blocks per contest at the 2006 Australian under-18 national tournament and played for the Australian Institute of Sport Team at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan in 2006.

            “Cameron is a very hard worker and possesses the desire to reach his full potential,” added Drew.

            Witt plans on studying business at Valparaiso.  He is joining Erik Buggs, Logan Jones, and transfer Cory Johnson who will also join the program for the 2008-2009 season.
