Valpo Men's Basketball To Conduct Summer Camps
Tuesday, March 22, 2005 The Valparaiso University men's basketball program will conduct four camps for boys this summer at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Valpo head coach Homer Drew and his staff are offering the following camps: 1-Day Prospect Camp, June 18; Mini-Camp, June 20-23; Valpo Basketball School, June 20-23, and Valpo Basketball Academy, August 1-5.The 1-Day Prospect Camp, for grades 9-12, will occur on Sat., June 18 from 1-6 p.m. The camp, which features advanced instruction, skill testing and height, weight, vertical and speed assessment, also includes an NCAA seminar on academics and athletics. Cost of the camp is $30 per person. Registration is from 12:30-1 p.m. the day of the camp. The Mini-Camp, for ages 5-7, will take place Mon.-Thurs., June 20-23 from 9-11:30 a.m. Features include contests and games. Cost of the camp is $95 per person. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. on June 20. The Valpo Basketball School, for ages 8-14, will run Mon.-Thurs., June 20-23 from 9 a.m.-noon. The Crusaders' basketball staff will teach basic offensive and defensive fundamentals. Five-on-five games and various drills will be featured daily. Cost of the Valpo Basketball School is $145 per person. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. on June 20. The Valpo Basketball Academy, for ages 8-14, will be held Mon.-Fri., August 1-5 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The Valpo staff will present daily lectures and campers will learn basic offensive and defensive fundamentals. Five-on-five games and various drills will be featured daily. Cost of the Valpo Basketball Academy is $275 per person. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. on August 1. Campers in all of the camps will receive a free T-Shirt. Participants in the Mini-Camp, Basketball School and Basketball Academy will also receive a basketball. A limited number of Von Tobel Single Parent Scholarships are available for Basketball School and Academy campers. The scholarship covers the entire $145 cost for the Basketball School and the entire $275 Academy fee.
