Valpo Adds Top Junior College Recruit

Valparaiso University today announced Mohamed Kone has enrolled in classes and will be a member of the men's basketball team this season.

Kone, who spent the last two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, was rated the number one junior college prospect by Mike Mitchell's Midwest Scouting Service and the number one junior college center by Mullins Roundball Review.

A 6-11, 235 pound forward/center, Kone averaged 14.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks for the Golden Eagles during the 2004-05 season, leading his team to a 33-3 record and a national third place finish in the NJCAA Tournament. Kone was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team in addition to earning MVP honors at the Region 18 Tournament.

As a freshman, Kone averaged 6.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 13 starts.

Kone is a native of the Republic of the Ivory Coast and is a French citizen. He has one remaining year of NCAA eligibility.
