Senior guard Jarryd Loyd (Lincolnwood, Ill./Niles West) was selected Tuesday night to the five-member Horizon League All-Tournament Team for his performance in Valparaiso’s three tournament games.

Loyd averaged a team-high 17.3 points per game over the Crusaders’ three games, while also contributing 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.  He started the tournament with 13 points in Valpo’s first-round win over Green Bay, and added 14 points and seven rebounds in the Crusaders’ quarterfinal win over Wright State.  The senior hit all four of his free throw attempts in the final 13 seconds against the Raiders to secure the victory.

Loyd saved his best performance for last, however, scoring a career-high 25 points to lead the Crusaders as they nearly earned a come-from-behind victory over Cleveland State in the semifinals.  The senior, who also matched his career best with five made 3-pointers, scored 18 of his 25 points in the final 7:11 of the ballgame.

Loyd was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Butler’s Mike Green (MVP), Matt Howard, and Drew Streicher, as well as Cleveland State’s J’Nathan Bullock.
