Valparaiso men’s basketball head coach Homer Drew announced today that the Crusaders have signed 6’7”, 235 lb. forward Milos Milosevic (Bar, Montenegro/Oakmont [Calif.] H.S. [Yuba College]) to a National Letter of Intent.  He will join the Crusaders for the 2009-2010 campaign with three years of eligibility remaining.

“We are very excited to bring Milos into our program,” said Drew.  “Milos is built like a big ox and will bring a toughness and an aggression to our front line.  He’s a great fit academically here at Valpo and will major in electrical engineering.  Milos comes from a family of successful athletes, as his dad played for 20 years in Europe, his oldest brother is currently playing in Germany and his middle brother currently plays at Western Kentucky.  We are extremely pleased to have not only Milos, but all of our newcomers coming in for next season.”

Milosevic averaged 9.5 points and 7 rebounds per game for the 49ers during the 2008-2009 season while helping to guide them to their third consecutive conference title.  He put up those numbers despite missing the early portion of the season while recovering from a burst appendix.  As a senior at Oakmont H.S., Milosevic scored 20 points per game while pulling down 12 rebounds per contest.

The Crusaders also announced that four scholarship players from last year’s roster will not be returning in 2009-2010.  Forward Benjamin Fumey is seeking a professional contract in his native Germany, while center Beas Hamga and guards De’Andre Haskins and Logan Jones will be transferring.

“Benny is close to signing a contract over in Germany and beginning his professional career,” said Drew.  “We have been working with Beas, De’Andre, Logan and their families to help them move to institutions that better serve their needs both on and off the court.”
