WJOB Joins Valpo Sports Radio Network

Northwest Indiana’s home team has added a radio home in Lake County, as it was announced today that WJOB (1230 AM, Hammond) has joined the Valpo Sports Radio Network and will broadcast 14 Valparaiso men’s basketball games throughout the 2010-2011 season.

"We are excited to be adding WJOB to the Valpo Sports Radio Network,” said Valparaiso director of athletics Mark LaBarbera.  “We have many fans in Lake County, and having our basketball games carried on the county's leading broadcaster of regional sporting events makes it very easy for them to keep up with all the action."

WJOB covers Lake County and also extends west across the state line into Cook County in Illinois.  The Valpo Sports Radio Network now is comprised of three stations, as WJOB joins WAKE (1500 AM, Valparaiso) in Porter County and WE-FM (95.9 FM, Michigan City) in LaPorte County.

“I'm very excited for Valparaiso University men's basketball on WJOB,” said WJOB general manager Debbie Wargo. “We have been working very hard to strengthen our company, and today, we've taken another big step in that direction.”
