Walker Joins Crusader Men’s Basketball Program
Bryce Drew announced that Darien Walker will join the Crusader basketball program in 2014-15.

Valparaiso men’s basketball head coach Bryce Drew announced today that Chicago native Darien Walker has agreed to join the Crusader basketball program.  Walker, a transfer from John A. Logan College, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2014-15 season.

“We are very excited for Darien to be joining the Valpo family,” said Drew.  “We recruited Darien while he was in high school, which helped in the process this time around.  He is a very explosive guard who can score the ball very well.  We also like that he plays much bigger than his height and can play multiple positions.”

Walker, a 6’3”, 218 lb. guard, helped lead John A. Logan to a 20-win season last year, ranking among the team leaders as he averaged 13.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting at a 50% clip from the field and 77.4% from the foul line.  Walker played as a freshman at Arizona Western College, where he recorded 11.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Walker played his prep ball for Chicago Public League powerhouse Simeon, where he helped lead the Wolverines to back-to-back Illinois class 4A state championships.  Walker becomes the fifth member of the 2014-15 Crusader roster from the state of Illinois.
