Sorolla Inks NLI With Valpo Men’s Basketball
Matt Lottich announced the signing of Jaume Sorolla Friday.

Valparaiso University men’s basketball head coach Matt Lottich announced today that Jaume Sorolla has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Crusader basketball program as a freshman for the 2016-17 season.

Sorolla, who hails from Tortosa, Spain, spent this past season in the United States playing at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan. The 6’11”, 240 lb. center has represented his native country in a number of FIBA competitions, including U16 and U18 European Championships. Sorolla also was a member of Spain’s fourth-place team at the 2014 U17 World Championships, where he averaged 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game – highlighted by a 15-point, six-rebound performance against Australia in the semifinals.

“Jaume is a fantastic young man who comes to Valpo with a tremendous skill set,” said Lottich. “He has the potential to be a dominant force in the paint for us. He has a good touch on offense and brings good timing and length on the defensive end.”

Sorolla is the Crusaders’ second signee for the 2016-17 season, as Micah Bradford signed with Valpo during November’s early signing period.
