McMillan Signs NLI to Join Valpo Men’s Basketball Program
Head coach Matt Lottich announced the signing of Mileek McMillan on Tuesday.

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team received its second National Letter of Intent in the early signing period on Tuesday, as Mileek McMillan, a 6’8” senior from Merrillville H.S., signed with the Crusaders. McMillan will join the Valpo program as a freshman in the 2017-18 season.

“Mileek is unique in that he is only beginning to scratch the surface of what he is going to be as a basketball player,” said Crusader head coach Matt Lottich. “Mileek was 6’2” as a sophomore, 6’5” as a junior, and now as a senior, he is already 6’8”. He possesses guard skills in a power forward’s body and poses extreme matchup problems for the opposition. Crusader fans are going to love Mileek’s versatility, his competitive desire and the fact he is from Northwest Indiana. Mileek will be a great addition to Valparaiso University and we couldn’t be more excited to add him to our roster.”

McMillan was a key contributor to Merrillville’s success as a junior, averaging nearly seven rebounds per game for the Pirates as they finished the year with a 22-2 record. He played this past summer for the Indiana Elite on the AAU circuit and stood out at the Indiana Top 80 camp in early October, being named the camp’s Mr. Defender.

McMillan is the second member of next season’s freshman class to sign a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period, joining Parker Hazen.
