Valparaiso University junior forward Ryan Fazekas (Chesterton, Ind./Marquette Catholic [Providence]) repeated as the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week as he led Valpo in a pair of wins to open conference play last week.

Against Illinois State, Fazekas battled back from first-half foul trouble to score 11 of his team-high 14 points in the second half. Then, in the win at Missouri State, Fazekas matched his season high with six made 3-pointers, going 6-of-11 from deep for a team-best 18 points in the victory.

For the week, Fazekas averaged 16 points per game on 52.6% (10-of-19) shooting from deep. The junior now leads the MVC in 3-pointers/game (2.9) and is hitting at a 43.4% clip from the 3-point line this year.
