The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team will take the Athletics-Recreation Center floor for the final time this season on Wednesday night as first-place Bradley comes to town for the home finale. It’s Senior Night for the Beacons as Kobe King, Quinton Green, Nick Edwards, Luke Morrill and Ben Krikke as well as student manager Sam Back and senior cheer/dance team members will be recognized prior to the game. After the game, head coach Matt Lottich and senior players will address the crowd. Krikke is currently undecided on whether or not he will utilize his extra year of eligibility created due to COVID-19, while the other aforementioned seniors will close out the home portion of their collegiate careers on Wednesday. The pregame festivities will also feature O Canada in honor of Krikke’s Senior Night. The game will be televised regionally in the Chicago market on NBC Sports Chicago Plus.

Men's Hoops Seeks Three-Game Winning Streak

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team will seek its first three-game winning streak of the season on Saturday night as the Beacons make their way to Normal, Ill. to clash with Illinois State. The squad will look to secure its first three-game winning streak since late December and early January of last season – a stretch that featured wins over Eastern Michigan, William & Mary and Illinois State. The program’s last three-game MVC winning streak was late January 2021 (at Illinois State twice, vs. Bradley). Valpo will also try to win back-to-back MVC road games for the first time since sweeping two at Illinois State on Jan. 23-24, 2020.

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team hit big shots down the stretch, pulling away for a 76-66 victory over UIC on Tuesday night at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Beacons Fly Past Skyhawks in Nonconference Finale

The holidays will be a little jollier for the Valparaiso University men’s basketball team after a second consecutive victory as part of Community Day at the Athletics-Recreation Center on Wednesday. The community Christmas celebration featured a victorious effort as Valpo defeated Stonehill 77-67 in a game that was not nearly as close as the final score would indicate. Nick Edwards (Atlanta, Ga. / Grayson [Glenville State]) posted a double-double of 20 points and 12 assists to lead four Beacons in double figures in the scoring department.


Men's Basketball to Close Nonconference with Community Game at the ARC

The final Valparaiso University men’s basketball game before the Christmas holiday and the last nonconference game of the season will take place on Wednesday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center. For the second straight year, Valpo will host a Community Game with a special midday start time to spread holiday cheer. Upper bleacher tickets will be available for the discounted price of $5 and free of charge for children ages 18 and under. In addition, the first 400 fans who make their way into the ARC will receive a free Valpo Santa Hat.


Beacons Fend Off Phoenix for Home Victory on Sunday

The 3-point arc told the tale of the game’s outcome on Sunday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center. The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team made a season-most 10 triples while boasting a season best in terms of 3-point defense en route to a 71-66 victory over visiting Elon. Valpo built up an 18-point advantage before holding on for the triumph.

For the first time since the most famous moment in the history of the Valparaiso University men’s basketball program, the team will take on Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon. The game will be televised nationally on SEC Network. The Beacons are 3-1 at home and 1-1 on neutral floors but will seek their first true road win of the year on Saturday. This will mark the team’s final nonconference road game of the season prior to two pre-Christmas home dates. In addition, this will mark the squad’s first game this season against a power-five conference opponent.


Men’s Basketball Rolls to Home Victory on Tuesday

Led by a big performance from point guard Nick Edwards (Atlanta, Ga. / Grayson [Glenville State]), the Valparaiso University men’s basketball team coasted to a 96-60 victory over Trinity Christian College on Tuesday night at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Edwards stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals, while Ben Krikke (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada [Jasper Place]) poured in 20 points in just 19 minutes of action. All 13 Beacons who saw the floor scored.

Krikke Posts Career High in Overtime Loss to Murray State

In a season of big offensive production, Valparaiso University men’s basketball senior Ben Krikke (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada / Jasper Place) had his biggest production yet on Sunday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center. Despite a career-high 31 points from the Canadian forward, visiting Murray State raced back from down 10 to beat the Beacons 77-70 in overtime.

The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team made a surge to cut what had been a 15-point deficit to six with seven minutes remaining, but Belmont closed out a 76-64 win on its home floor in the Missouri Valley Conference opener on Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.
