2020-21 MVC All-Freshman Team

2020-21: Named to the MVC All-Freshman Team after appearing in 27 games and making 12 starts during his rookie campaign… Scored 8.1 points per game while averaging 2.9 rebounds and knocking down a team-most 36 3-pointers… Ranked second on the squad with 24 steals… Scored in double figures on nine occasions and had seven games with multiple steals… Led the team in scoring four times… Averaged 8.4 ppg and shared the team lead with 19 steals in conference-only games while knocking down a team-high 28 3s in league play… Helped Valpo extend its streak to three straight seasons with a member of the All-Freshman Team and four straight years with either an All-Freshman or All-Newcomer Team honoree… Became the seventh Valpo freshman in the last 20 years to start the season opener on Nov. 27 at Vanderbilt... Reached double figures for the first time in his Valpo career with a 10-point showing on Dec. 6 vs. Judson... Poured in a personal-best 20 points on an efficient 7-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds on Dec. 9 vs. SIUE... Scored 19 points over the two games vs. Missouri State on Jan. 9-10... Led the team with 18 points, including 11 in the two overtime periods, to lift Valpo to a 91-85 victory over Bradley on Jan. 28... Matched a season high with 20 points on Feb. 6 vs. No. 25 Drake before adding 11 on Feb. 7 in an upset victory over the Bulldogs. In the Feb. 7 triumph, he slammed home a thunderous dunk that ranked No. 7 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays that evening. For his efforts, Edwards was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 8 while also earning College Sports Madness MVC Player of the Week honors... Had his third straight game in double figures and his fourth straight multi-steal game with 10 points and three swipes on Feb. 10 vs. Bradley… Tied a season high with four made triples in the final game of the campaign on March 5 vs. Missouri State, also equaling a personal best with eight rebounds to go along with his 17 points in the MVC Tournament opener against the Bears.

Before Valpo: Averaged 21.2 points and 7.6 rebounds as a senior at Palm Beach Lakes High School in 2018-19… Spent a postgraduate year at TLAP Sports Academy in Port St. Lucie, Fla. during the 2019-20 season, averaging 32 points per game and five rebounds per contest while turning in two games of 40+ points… 2018-19 first-team all-state honoree and All-State Game MVP in the state of Florida... Watched about 75 percent of Valpo's games on TV or via internet while in prep school during the 2019-20 season... TLAP Sports Academy coach Louis Graham says stopping for him is a "tough task" and said "You want to watch him; he's a guy who sells tickets." Graham, also Edwards' uncle, put a basketball in his crib as a young child. "He loves the game."

Personal: Majoring in sports management… Hobbies include listening to music… Favorite artists are Drake and J. Cole… Son of Sheldon Edwards Sr. and Leticia Graham… Has six siblings – sisters Kham, Kiarra, Aaniyah, Jayden and brothers Joshua (14) and Elijah (10)... Favorite NBA player is Steph Curry, but he models his game after the likes of Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum and Bradley Beal. When he’s not playing basketball, the Valpo freshman spends much of his free time watching it.
