2021-22 MVC All-Newcomer Team

2022-23: Set a program record for consecutive double-figure scoring outputs within the same season by reaching double figures in all 32 games... Started every game for the Beacons... Averaged 16.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest... Shot 76.8 percent (109-of-142) from the free-throw line... Scored his 1,000th career point on Jan. 10 vs. Belmont... Ranked seventh in the league in scoring, 15th in free-throw percentage and fourth in minutes played... Had a season-high 26 points in the Nov. 13 home opener vs. Western Michigan... Scored 20+ points on nine occasions... Registered an MVC-only season best of 24 points on Jan. 17 vs. UIC and matched it on Feb. 14 vs. Southern Illinois... Had a season-high 12 rebounds on Jan. 25 at UNI, part of his lone double-double of the season that also featured 14 points... Grabbed 22 steals and gave out 54 assists during the season.

2021-22: Played in 23 games and made 22 starts after sitting out the first nine games to gain NCAA eligibility... Earned MVC All-Newcomer Team status... Averaged 14.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game... Had a three-quarters court buzzer-beater on Dec. 11 vs. Charlotte, a play that ranked No. 9 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays that evening... Scored in double figures 19 times and led the team in scoring on seven occasions and rebounding four times... Achieved season highs in both points (24) and rebounds (11) on Feb. 5 vs. Indiana State... Enjoyed his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards on Feb. 21 vs. Evansville... Ranked 13th in the MVC in scoring, 10th in offensive rebounds per game and 10th in minutes per game.

2020-21: Did not play college basketball.

2019-20 (Wisconsin): Started all 19 games he played and averaged 10.0 points per game… Averaged a team-high 12.6 points per game during Big Ten play over nine contests, all starts… Shot a robust 52.2 percent from the floor in conference action, hitting 48 of his 92 attempts… Scored a career-high 24 points in a victory over Indiana on Dec. 7… Followed that up with an 18-point output at Rutgers on Dec. 11… Poured in 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting on Jan. 8 against Illinois… Finished his Wisconsin tenure having seen action in 63 games and making 20 starts.

2018-19 (Wisconsin): Appeared in all 34 games, making one start ... Averaged 4.2 ppg and 2.1 rpg in 19.0 mpg... Tallied 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting against Michigan State (March 16) in the Big Ten Tournament... Made first career start vs. Savannah State on Dec. 13, finishing with 10 points in 23 minutes... Hauled in six rebounds to go with five points and two assists vs. NC State on Nov. 27... Scored 14 points, including 3-for-5 from behind the arc, in Wisconsin’s win over Oklahoma on Nov. 22.

2017-18 (Wisconsin): Played in the first 10 games before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season... Averaged 5.2 points (45.7 percent shooting) and 1.4 rebounds... Scored 10 points vs. Ohio State on Dec. 2 in the first Big Ten game of his career... Finished with 9 points vs. No. 23 UCLA on Nov. 21.

High School: Enjoyed a senior season to remember at La Crosse Central, being named Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball, Gatorade Player of the Year and a unanimous selection for Associated Press Player of the Year after leading the Red Raiders to a 26-2 record and the program’s first state championship since 1925… Scored 28 points (21 in the second half alone) in Central’s 55-53 victory over Cedarburg in the WIAA Division 2 title game at the Kohl Center… In his senior season, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 28.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 61 percent from the field and 45 percent from 3… As a junior, he averaged 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent from the field and 84 percent from the free-throw line… Named Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year, La Crosse Tribune Coulee Region Player of the Year and also earned All-State honors during his junior campaign … As a sophomore, took home all-conference accolades after tallying 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game… Scored 2,060 points during his prep career at Central… Was also a standout in track & field, winning the Mississippi Valley Conference in the high jump (6-8 ½) and long jump (22-10).

Personal: Parents are Chris King and Julie Platten… Favorite basketball memories to this point are winning the state title as a high school senior and a 64-54 upset victory over No. 2 Michigan on Jan. 19, 2019 in Madison. Michigan entered the matchup with a 17-0 record. King saw 31 minutes of action and had six points and five rebounds…. Pursuing a degree in sociocultural studies of sport, health, and the body… Enjoys making music and writing song lyrics.
