Valpo Men Finish 21st at Brissman-Lundeen Invitational

Valparaiso sent half of its men's cross country team to the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday afternoon in Davenport, Iowa and came away with a 21st place finish in a field of 32 schools.

The Crusaders tallied 641 points at the event hosted and won by Augustana.

Leandro Schultz (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold with a 141st place effort overall with a time of 27:08 over the eight-kilometer course. Jason Douthett (Highland, Ind./Highland H.S.) was second placing 161st with a time of 27:27 while Paul Rellstab finished 183rd with a mark of 27:50.

Mike Landmeier (Saint Charles, Ill./East H.S.) and Phil Martin (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) rounded out the top-five for the Crusaders. They were 238th and 239th respectively, both with times of 28:36.

The rest of the Crusader squad that did not compete will race at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday with the race beginning at 6:55 p.m. in Palo Alto, Calif.
