Crusaders Compete at Loyola Lakefront Invitational

The Valparaiso men's cross country team took the course at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational Saturday in Chicago, Ill., finishing in 28th place in the gold race.

Host school Loyola captured the gold race title, while the Crusaders finshined with 933 points.

Bryan Gill (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City H.S.) paced the Brown and Gold, completing the course in 29:43, good for a 246th place finish. Following Gill was Paul Rellstab (Holgate, Ohio/Holgate H.S.), who crossed the line in 249th place with a time of 29:53.

The next Crusader finisher was Mike Landmeier (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles East H.S.), placing 252nd with a time of 30:08. Chris Martis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake H.S.) hit the finish line next in 30:29, placing 258th. Rounding out the scoring for the Crusaders was Ben Radke (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge H.S.), finishing the course in 260th place with a time of 30:35.

Valparaiso returns to action in two weeks, heading to the Evansville Invitational on October 15. Race time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
