Valpo Cross Country Squads Earn Academic Honors

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country teams have garnered recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their success in the classroom this year.

The 2018 Division I Cross Country Team All-Academic Awards were released this week, honoring teams from across the country. To be selected, teams must own at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Valpo men compiled a 3.49 grade point average, while the women’s team owned a 3.53 GPA, continuing a tradition of academic success for the Valpo cross country program. The Valpo men also had a pair of runners earn academic honors at the conclusion of the fall season as both Jack Mader (Graner, Ind. / Penn) and Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill. / University) were named to the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team.
