Webb, Kleckner Sweep Horizon League Golf Honors
Peter Webb earned league weekly honors following his first two collegiate tournaments.

Valparaiso freshman Peter Webb (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) and senior Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale) have swept the Horizon League Golfer of the Week accolades after record-setting performances to the start of their respective fall 2013 seasons.

Webb made his Crusader debut last week at the Battle in the Tetons and immediately impressed, becoming just the third golfer since the program's revival to shoot under par for a 54-hole event, shooting a 214 (-2) to finish in a tie for third place. Then, Webb shot the best round in program history, firing a 67 (-5) to open up the Golfweek Program Challenge this week. He followed up with a 68 en route to a final score of 211 (-5), the best 54-hole score in relation to par in program history, to again place joint third.

Kleckner paced the Crusader women at the Golfweek Program Challenge this week, opening with a round of 77 before carding back-to-back 74s to close the tournament at 225 (+12), good for a tie for 21st place. The 225 set a new program standard for a 54-hole score, besting the previous record by three strokes, and also matched the best 54-hole score in relation to par.

The Valparaiso men tee it up next on Monday, Sept. 16 at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio. The women return to the links at the SIUE DoubleTree Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill. on Monday, Sept. 23.
