Coming off a historic fall campaign, Coach David Gring revealed the 2015 Spring schedule for the Crusader men’s golf team, a docket that will see them play in five tournaments over the course of eight weeks.
"The team is excited to continue the strong season that we had in during the Fall with some terrific tournaments in the Spring,” said Gring. “Our Spring schedule will feature challenging tournaments and strong fields throughout the entire season."
The team will return to action March 9th and 10th when they travel to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to take part in the Bash at the Beach tournament. From there, it's on to participate in the Wallace Jones-Warhawk Intercollegiate Tournament in Delhi, Louisiana on March 24th and 25th.
The Brown and Gold will travel to Horizon League rival Wright State to play in the Wright State Invitational April 4th and 5th. Their fourth tournament of the spring will see them travel to Raleigh, North Carolina as they play in the NC State Wolfpack Spring Open on the 18th and 19th of April. Last, but certainly not least, is the annual clash of Horizon League teams, as everyone will head down to Howey in the Hills, Florida, home of this year’s Horizon League Men’s Golf Championship. The chance to punch their ticket for the NCAA Tournament will take place April 24th through the 26th.
While the weather in Valparaiso has been not even close to golf conditions, the team has used the offseason wisely and are ready to hit the links once again. "The guys have been working very diligently during the off-season, both in the classroom and in our practices. I've been very pleased with the work ethic in our weight-lifting, cardio, and indoor hitting/short-game sessions.” Gring continued by saying, “We are looking forward to the warm weather and getting back to the golf course."
