VanArragon Honored as MVC Newcomer of the Year
A record-setting rookie season for freshman men’s golfer Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) culminated Tuesday with one of the conference’s highest honors, as VanArragon was named the 2020 MVC Newcomer of the Year. VanArragon also represented Valpo as one of five golfers on the MVC All-Conference Team.

VanArragon Cracks Top 10 in Orlando
Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) added another Top-10 finish to his season resume this week at the Orlando Invitational hosted by George Mason at Mission Inn in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. The freshman led the way for the Valparaiso University men’s golf team, which finished with a team score 942 over 54 holes for the tournament.

VanArragon Leads Valpo on Day 1 in Jacksonville
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team was led by Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) on the opening day of the Orlando Invitational hosted by George Mason at Mission Inn in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. The Valpo freshman is tied for fifth of 68 on the individual leaderboard.

Men’s Golf Wins The Invitation at Savannah Harbor
When Valparaiso University men’s golfers return to campus following this weekend’s stay in Savannah, Ga., they will bring championship hardware with them. Valpo earned the team title in the 19-team event, finishing the 54 holes with a team score of 869 (+5), tying for the third-best mark in relation to par in program history.

Men’s Golf Tied Atop Team Leaderboard Entering Sunday
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team utilized an impressive second-round performance to climb from tied for 10th to tied for first in the 19-team Invitation at Savannah Harbor at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah Ga. on Saturday. Valpo had the best Round 2 score of any competing team by posting a 283 in the afternoon session.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf program officially welcomed its newest member on Wednesday as Alex Heck (Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove) has signed his National Letter of Intent to join the team for the 2020-2021 academic and athletic year.

Willis Named MVC Golfer of the Week
After taking medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career, Valparaiso University men’s golf sophomore Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) was named a Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. He shared the weekly men’s golf honor with Illinois State’s David Perkins, who finished third with a 202 (-11) at the Bearcat Invitational.

Willis Wins Individual Medalist as Men’s Golf Finishes as Team Runner-Up
Sophomore Garrett Willis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) became the first Valparaiso University men’s golfer to win medalist honors since 2017 on Tuesday, headlining a banner day for the program at the Zach Johnson Invitational, which was hosted by Drake at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa. Freshman Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) finished tied for second, while the team grabbed the runner-up distinction in the 15-squad, 74-player field.

Men’s Golf in Mix for Team Title Entering Tuesday
For the second consecutive tournament, the Valparaiso University men’s golf team finds itself very much involved in a tight race for the team title entering the final round. Valpo led the 12-team field through one round on Monday at the Zach Johnson Invitational hosted by Drake at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa. After Round 2, the Brown & Gold are part of a three-way tie for second, two strokes behind first-place Loyola.

Men's Golf Ties for Second at Crusader Collegiate Behind Best Tournament Score in Five Years
A razor-tight finish saw the Valparaiso University men’s golf team tie for the runner-up position with North Dakota State, just five strokes behind team champion Wright State at the 15-team Crusader Collegiate, which concluded on Tuesday afternoon at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. Valpo was neck-and-neck for the tournament lead throughout the round as the team title came down to the final hole of the day.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team utilized a glowing front nine in Monday’s afternoon round to erase an early deficit and climb into second place in a 15-team field through 36 holes at the Crusader Collegiate. VanArragon Cracks Program’s 54-Hole Top 5 at Air Force
The Valparaiso University men’s golf team had its best round of the weekend on Sunday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite hosted by Air Force at Eisenhower Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Colo. Valpo bettered its Saturday round by eight strokes while advancing from tied for 14th to sole possession of 12th on the final day of the tournament. In addition, freshman Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) inserted his name into the program record book by virtue of his performance over the 54 holes this weekend.
