Three straight goals in the middle of the match propelled Valparaiso to a 3-2 victory over UMKC on Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.

The Kangaroos struck first as Mike Rosenthal took a cross at the far post and beat Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) at the 6:20 mark.

Ben Olson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon H.S.) then took a high lob from Jon Flugstad (San Antonio, Texas) off a restart and headed the ball to the back of the net to give Valpo a 2-1 lead at halftime. For Flugstad, it was his second assist of the night.

Mark Korba (Portage, Ind./Portage H.S.) put the Crusaders up 3-1 scoring from 20 yards out at the 73:01 mark for Valpo's final tally.

M.J. Serota added a late goal for UMKC rebounding a Dan Hilson shot in the box to close within one.
