Valpo Records First Road Victory

The Valparaiso men's soccer team recorded its second victory in its last three outings, defeating Drury 2-0 in Springfield, Mo. on Sunday afternoon.

Chris Goss (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakview H.S.) put Valpo in front just 5:02 into the match heading home a pass from Nate Balfanz (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.).

Jon Brighton (Warner Robbins, Ga./Houston County H.S.) added the insurance goal with just 26 second remaining in the opening half off a cross from Jeremy Stacy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central H.S.).

Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) made three saves for Valpo on his way to his third shutout of the season. Tommy Fuller made two stops for Drury (0-12).

Both teams registered 11 shots in the match, but the Crusaders held a 7-3 advantage on goal.

Valparaiso (2-8-2) will return to action next Sunday when the Crusaders travel to Indianapolis for a 2 p.m. match at IUPUI.
