Valparaiso's men's soccer team has been picked to finish in fifth place in the Mid-Continent Conference in 2004 according to the preseason poll selected by the league's head coaches.

Head coach Mis' Mrak's squad finished 2-13-2 overall and 1-5 in Mid-Con play last season finishing sixth overall. The Crusaders' 14 points in the poll edged out IUPUI in the rankings with Centenary picked seventh. Oakland, last season's regular season champion was picked to repeat in 2004, followed by UMKC.
