Butler scored just over 11 minutes into the match and added an insurance goal in the second half as the Bulldogs defeated Valparaiso 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Eastgate Field.

Scott Olsen took a one touch pass from Cory Edgington after a cross from John Mariscalco and beat Jeff Oleck (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) 11:08 into the contest to put Butler in front. The Bulldogs added a goal at the 61:13 mark as Casey Jewett scored from midfield on a free kick that deflected off of a Crusader defender's head and into the goal.

Oleck made six saves in goal for the Crusaders while Evan Reinhardt needed to make just two stops for the shutout. Butler outshot Valpo 13-10 for the match and held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks. The physical match saw 25 fouls whistled on Butler (3-3) while the Crusaders were called for 18.

After playing four of its first five matches at home, Valparaiso (1-2-2) will take to the road on Sunday to begin a seven-match road trip. The Crusaders will face Xavier (Ohio) in Cincinnati beginning at 12 p.m. CDT.
