Catrow and Brighton Named to All-Tournament Team

Juniors D.J. Catrow (Springfield, Ohio/Central Catholic) and Jon Brighton (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County) have been named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Tournament for their performances over the weekend in Kansas City, Mo.

The fourth-seeded Crusaders fell to regular season champion Oakland 4-2 in their semi-final match Friday morning, but had opened up a 2-1 lead thanks to their two junior forwards. Brighton put Valpo in front early, scoring his fifth goal of the year off a pass from Catrow in the 11th minute. After Oakland tied the game at the 16:26 mark, Catrow found Tim Bowington (Odessa, Texas/Permian) 20 seconds later to put the Crusaders back in front.

Catrow's two assists gave him six on the season, the third highest total in school history, and his 10 career assists are seventh-best all-time. The Ohio State transfer was named to the All-Conference Second Team earlier in the week, the second straight season in which he has been so honored.

The loss to Oakland concluded Valpo's 2005 season with a 6-10-2 record, the program's winningest campaign in eight years. The Crusaders will return to action in the fall of 2006.
