Titans End Valpo Win Streak at Three
Wednesday, October 12, 2005
Detroit's Vahid Assadpour scored his second goal of the match in the 101st minute to give the Titans a 2-1 double-overtime win over Valpo Wednesday at Eastgate Field, snapping the Crusaders' three-match winning streak.

Assadpour tied the match in the 86th minute, ending Jeff Oleck's (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) shutout streak at 356:17. The Crusader keeper was looking for his fourth shutout in a row and the school-record 13th of his career, but instead would take the loss.

D.J. Catrow (Springfield, Ohio/Catholic Central/Ohio State) put the Brown and Gold in front in the first half, scoring in the 38th minute when Jon Brighton (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County) headed a Titan turnover to Catrow's feet. The goal was Catrow's team-leading fourth of the season, but first since September 9.

Detroit (7-3-2) controlled most of the action offensively, out-shooting the Crusaders 25-11, including a 9-2 advantage in the first half. Sasha Boskovic made seven saves for the Titans and Oleck had 10 for the Crusaders.

Valpo (4-7-0, 2-1-0) returns to Mid-Continent Conference play Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. match against pre-season favorite Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Crusaders return home to Eastgate Field Friday, October 21, to take on Western Illinois at 3:00 p.m.
