Senior forward Oscar Lomeli (Jalisco, Mexico/ [Bethel (Ind.)]) was named a Second Team All-Horizon League honoree for the second straight season, while junior midfielder Rodolfo Lucas (Mogi Mirim, Brazil/ [Coffeyville C.C.]) and freshman goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck (Coralville, Iowa/Iowa City West) were each honored as part of the league’s All-Newcomer Team as the Horizon League announced its year-end awards on Thursday.

Lomeli played in all 18 matches this year for Valpo, starting on 15 occasions.  The senior currently leads the Crusaders with five goals on the season, tied for sixth among Horizon League players, and also has added an assist for 11 points on the year.  He becomes the first Crusader multiple-time All-League honoree since D.J. Catrow received All Mid-Con accolades three times from 2004-2006.

Lucas has provided a solid presence out of the midfield all season long for the Crusaders, starting 11 of the 14 matches he has played.  The junior finished the regular season with a goal against Wright State and added two assists, including a helper this past Sunday in the win over Detroit.

Zobeck has played every minute in goal this season for Valpo and is on pace to set a new school record for single-season goals against average, currently carrying a 1.33 GAA.  The freshman has six victories on the year and has also registered five shutouts, tied for second-most in a single season in Crusader history.
