Crusader Men Tabbed Sixth in Horizon League Poll
Monday, August 18, 2008

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team has been picked to finish sixth in the Horizon League by the league’s head coaches, as announced by the League office today.

Each of the league’s nine head coaches had a vote, and was not allowed to vote for their own squad.  Eight points were awarded for a first-place vote, with one point less being awarded for each place down to one point for an eighth-place vote.

UIC was tabbed as the unanimous favorite to capture the League title.  Green Bay and Loyola followed the Flames, with Butler and Milwaukee picked fourth and fifth.  Wright State, Detroit and Cleveland State were projected seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.

Valparaiso’s exhibition season continues Wednesday as the Crusaders play at St. Francis (Pa.).  The regular season kicks off Friday, August 29 as Valpo hosts Eastern Illinois at Eastgate Field at 4 p.m.
