Crusaders' Hot Start Leads to Regional Ranking
Todd Vervynckt and the Crusaders are unbeaten in their first five games.

Off to one of the best starts in program history, the Valparaiso men's soccer team finds itself ranked 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Great Lakes region rankings.

The Crusaders entered the regional rankings following the team's win over then-#24 Michigan State and remained in 10th position after their thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over IUPUI last week. It marks the first time Valpo has earned a regional ranking since Oct. 31, 2011, near the end of the Crusaders' Horizon League regular season championship season.

With the win over the Jaguars last Friday, Valpo improved to 2-0-3 on the season, the Crusaders' second-longest undefeated start to begin a season in program history. Only the 2010 team, which went 5-0-1 in its first six games, went farther into a season without enduring a loss.

The Crusaders will look to continue their season-opening unbeaten streak as they travel to face their second top-25 foe of the season on Friday, as Valpo will take on #18/15 Tulsa Friday evening.
