Men’s Soccer Earns NSCAA Academic Honor
Valpo has been awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award for 12 straight years.

For the 12th straight year, the Crusader men’s soccer team has been awarded with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, as announced Monday by the organization.

The Team Academic Award is awarded to soccer programs whose student-athletes have excelled in the classroom. The award is given annually, and in order to qualify, a program must obtain a composite grade point average of 3.00 or better for the academic year. The award is based on the composite GPA for the previous year, the 2013-2014 school year.

For their efforts in the classroom, the Crusader men earned a team GPA of 3.16 during the 2013-2014 school year. Horizon League members Oakland, Milwaukee, UIC and Belmont joined Valparaiso in receiving the award.

The Crusaders have the fourth longest streak in the nation, bested only by 14-time recipient Carleton College (2000-present) and 13-time winners Colby College and Penn (2001-present). The University of Rochester (2002-present) also has a 12 year streak.
