The Valparaiso University men’s soccer program has continued its impressive track record of helping players in their development toward professional careers.
The long list of Crusaders who have gone on to play professionally gained another name on Tuesday, as Nashville SC of the United Soccer League (USL) announced the addition of Ramone Howell (Portmore, Jamaica / Jamaica College) to the roster for the team’s inaugural season in 2018.
Howell, a 22-year old midfielder who just completed his senior season with the Crusaders, finished his collegiate career with seven goals and seven assists. He was a fixture in the midfield during his time at Valpo, competing in 67 career matches over four years.
“Ramone is a very talented and versatile central midfielder,” Nashville SC coach Gary Smith said in a release. “He looks to have all the qualities to be a top flight number 8, with great energy, excellent awareness and a steely determination.”
Nashville SC will compete in a preseason exhibition match against Atlanta United FC of the MLS on Feb. 18 before beginning regular season play against Louisville City FC on March 17.
