Crusaders Defeated by Cleveland State in Home Finale

The Valparaiso Crusaders dropped the home finale to Cleveland State 128-68 on Saturday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

The Vikings won the first six events of the meet before Ed Chester (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka H.S.) broke through for the Brown and Gold in the 100 freestyle. The sophomore touched the wall in 49.41 seconds, .10 seconds against of Cleveland State.

Mike Hermes (Hudson, Ill./U-High) won the 100 breaststroke for Valpo's other victory on the afternoon. Hermes finished in 1:01.95 to better his opponents by .67 seconds.

Sean Conrin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove H.S.) was second to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.20 seconds.

The Crusaders finished their dual meet season 2-12 and will head to the Midwest Classic Championships on Feb. 20-22 in Indianapolis, Ind. on the campus of IUPUI.
