Crusaders Compete at Ball State Invitational

Valparaiso competed at the Ball State Invitational Friday and Saturday and came away with a fifth-place finish, notching 219 points.

David Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) led the way for the Brown and Gold, notching a third-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley and adding a fourth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

Bob Pedersen (Urbana, Ill./Urbana H.S.) and Travis Thames (Tucson, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro H.S.) also swam to two top-five finishes for Valpo. Pedersen came home fourth in the 200 butterfly and fifth in the 100 fly. Thames touched the wall fourth in the 200 backstroke and fifth in the 100 back.

The relay teams also scored well for the Crusaders. The 200 yard medley team finished third, while the 400 medley, 400 free and the 800 free teams placed fourth.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee scored 646 points to take home the team crown.

Valparaiso will take a weekend off before returning to the pool, December 2-3 at the House of Champions Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 2.
