Valpo Men Drop Dual Meet Finale to UIC

Valparaiso saw the dual meet portion of the 2006-2007 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 141-62 decision to future Horizon League foe UIC at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool on Senior Day.

Dave Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) posted a victory by nearly two seconds for the Crusaders in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.07 while also winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.58 seconds for the Brown and Gold. His win in the breast was by more than five seconds over his nearest competitor.

Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) finished runner-up in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:16.98 while Matt Schuchhardt (Neenah, Wis./Neenah H.S.) was second in the 50 free touching the wall in 23.64 seconds.

Ansel Hillmer (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough H.S.) placed second in the 100 butterfly in 55.20 seconds for Valpo's only other top-two finish.

Valparaiso (1-15) will close out the season at the Mid-Continent Conference Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. on February 15-17. The first events begin at 9 a.m. CST each morning with preliminary heats with the finals beginning at 5 p.m. CST each night.
