Men’s Swimming Falls at UIC Friday Night

After more than a month off for the holiday break, the Valparaiso men’s swim team returned to the water on Friday evening, falling 136-71 to UIC in Chicago, Ill.

The host Flames won all 13 events on the evening.

Kyle Braun (McHenry, Ill./West H.S.) led  the way for the Crusaders with a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.25 seconds.

Steve Booth (Saint Joseph, Mich./Saint Joseph H.S.) added a third place finish for the Crusaders in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:32.36.

Fernando Aguilar (San Salvador, El Salvador/Colegio Internacional de San Salvador H.S.) finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.16 while Russell Deghi (Sebestopol, Calif./Analy H.S.) earned the same place in the 50 free with a time of 23.68 seconds.

Matt King (Clinton, Ill./Clinton H.S.) also finished fourth in the 100 backstroke with his time of 58.66 seconds while Kevin Fedde (Fort Collins, Colo./Heritage Christian H.S.) turned in the fourth fastest time of the day in the 500 free touching the wall in 5:08.01.

Trevor Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./Connersville H.S.) added the fourth best time in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.18.

Valparaiso (0-8) will return to the water on Sunday afternoon in Fishers, Ind. for a meet against Xavier (Ohio), Hillsdale, Ball State, and Youngstown State.  The first event begins at 11 a.m. CST.
