Valparaiso University to Join Summit League in Men’s Tennis, Men’s Swimming


Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera has announced that Valparaiso University has accepted an invitation to join the Summit League as an affiliate member in men’s tennis and men’s swimming beginning with the 2017-2018 academic and athletic year. Valparaiso was a founding member of the Summit League, then known as the Mid-Continent Conference, in 1982 and competed in the conference until 2007.


Another School Record Highlights Final Day At HL Swimming Championships


Valparaiso University junior Max Penn (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) broke his own school record twice in the 200 backstroke Saturday, highlighting the Crusaders’ performances on the final day of the Horizon League Swimming Championships in Chicago as their 2016-17 season came to a close.


School Record Falls On Day Three of HL Swim Championships


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming team wrapped up day three of the Horizon League Championships on Friday in Chicago, setting more milestones in the water. Junior Max Penn (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) broke his own school record in the 100-yard backstroke, while seniors Rachel Law (Wayne, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) and sophomore Dylan Kirar (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) also placed in event finals on Friday.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed on day two of the Horizon League Championships in Chicago on Thursday. Three individual races and one relay captured the attention of the swimmers today and sealed several top times in Crusader history.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed against Eastern Illinois University at the ARC on Saturday, celebrating Senior Day in the process. The men earned a 137-125 victory, while the women suffered a close defeat, 149-113.

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams completed day two of a back-to-back meet weekend Sunday afternoon with respective sixth-place finishes from both teams at the Butler Invitational in Fishers, Ind. The Crusaders had several top-ten individual performances to highlight their day.


Valpo Swimming Resumes 2016-17 Campaign Saturday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled to Romeoville, Ill. to take on the Flyers from Lewis University on Saturday, resuming their 2016-17 season. Senior Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the Crusaders by taking home first place in the 200-yard breaststroke event, with a time of 2:31.63.


Crusaders Close Out Calvin Invite Saturday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams finished competition at the Calvin College Winter Invitational Saturday, with the men ending the three-day event in fifth place and the women placing seventh. Two Crusader swimmers earned top-five finishes, as senior Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) hit the wall at 2:25.34 in the 200-yard breaststroke for a fifth-place finish and junior Max Penn (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) swam his way to a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.40).


School Record Falls In Swimming’s Second Day at Calvin


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed on day two at the Calvin College Winter Invitational on Friday, with the men sitting in sixth place and the women in seventh place after 38 events. The Crusaders’ highlight of the day was freshman Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honor) breaking the school’s 24-year old 100-yard backstroke record with a time of 58.68.


Swimming Kicks Off Calvin Winter Invite Thursday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed on day one at the Calvin College Winter Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich., as the Crusader men finished the day in fourth place and the women in sixth place. The Crusaders had two relay teams and two individual swimmers enter the all-time top-ten lists with their Thursday performances.


Crusaders Split In Home Meet Against Rose-Hulman


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams concluded their two-meet homestand against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday at the ARC Pool. The women’s squad picked up their first victory of the season, winning 166-66, while the men suffered a 147.5-114.5 loss.


Swim Teams Continue Season Against WIU Sunday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swim teams continued their respective 2015-16 seasons, swimming against the Fighting Leathernecks of Western Illinois on Sunday afternoon at the ARC. The men fell to WIU, 162-106, and the women suffered a 174-91 defeat.


Swimming Takes On SVSU Sunday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swim teams traveled northeast to take on the Cardinals from Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. The Crusaders dropped the meet to SVSU on the men’s side, 147-66, and on the women’s side, 142-66.


Swimming Continues Campaign at EIU


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swim teams competed at Eastern Illinois University on Saturday, falling to the Panthers by final scores of 163-99 on the men’s side and 168.5-86.5 on the women’s side. Freshman Dylan Ogle (Simpsonville, S.C./Mauldin) and senior Emily Trimpe (New Palenstine, Ind./New Palenstine) both won two events for the Crusaders.


Swim Teams Compete at Indiana Intercollegiates Saturday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in the Indiana Intercollegiates Saturday at Purdue University in the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Both squads finished in seventh place, as the men earned 90 points and the women received 67 to finish out the day. Each team picked up top-five place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay.


Valpo Swimming Continues Season Friday Versus Evansville


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming squads continued their 2016-17 seasons Friday at the ARC pool as they hosted Evansville. The Crusaders fell to the Purple Aces 131-74 on the men’s side and 152-33 on the women’s side. Senior Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) accomplished a tremendous feat on Friday, swimming in each of the meet’s nine individual events.


Crusaders Take On Green Bay Saturday


The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming squads held their first home meet of the season at the ARC Pool Saturday, hosting Horizon League foe Green Bay. The Phoenix swept both meets, with the men winning 153-99 and the women’s squad defeating the Crusaders 173-83.

The Valparaiso University men's and women's swimming teams will host their first of five scheduled home meets this season Saturday afternoon as they welcome Green Bay to the ARC Pool. The meet's start time has been moved up to 1 p.m.
