Valpo senior swimmer Brendon Johnson (Northbrook, Ill.) has been named the Summit League Swimmer of the Week after an impressive performance in the team’s dual meet with Saginaw Valley State last Saturday.
Johnson secured the first win for the Brown and Gold in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:22.88 – less than a second off of his season best in the event.
This is the second time this season that a Valpo swimmer has won a weekly award, as Johnson joins Paige Wright, who won the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week award earlier this season. This is also the first weekly award received for the men since Dylan Kirar was named Summit League Swimmer of the Week in October 2017.
Johnson and his teammates travel to Chicago, Ill. for a three-day meet, participating in the Phoenix Fall Classic Nov. 22-24 to conclude their fall semester competition schedule.
