The Valpo men’s swimming team was represented by a quintet of student-athletes on Monday as the Mid-American Conference announced its 2022-23 Academic All-MAC Team.

Junior Logan Lorr (Wonder Lake, Ill./Woodstock North), a civil engineering major with a 3.295 GPA, earned the Academic All-MAC honor for a second straight season. Lorr was one of two Valpo juniors honored, as he was joined by classmate Drew Wilson (Sugar Grove, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic), a supply chain and logistics management major with a 3.23 GPA.

Three Valpo sophomores were honored as well: Andrew Berzai (South Bend, Ind./Mishawaka Marian), an exercise science major with a 3.715 GPA; Brendan Stangeland (West Fargo, N.D./Sheyenne), a mechanical engineering major with a 3.387 GPA; and Santiago Gutierrez Morales (Ibague, Colombia), a computer science major with a 3.352 GPA.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
